dark wings

There is a hole
in my house where
the wasp crawls in
again and again

I spend
countless hours
catching it up
in an empty glass
to let it fly free
in the garden
but it never
fails to
return

even so
I cannot bring
myself to crush
its

glossy

delicate

menace
.

Jonnia, I agree. This makes me happy. I have a hard time killing creepy crawlies. Lovely, simple poem.

I like the quaint simplicity of your poem as well. Unlike brian and victoria, however, I would spray the pest with wasp killer (or at least plug up the entrance hole) - just sayin' ;)

I feel the same way. There's a beautiful insect-like shape to your poem.

..ah, your words are very simple but digs deep through my heart.. there’s so much to learn in your poetry.. and i just like your reference to the wasp in here… this so reminds me of my visit to our home in the province where i would stare a wasp roaming again and again and again – endlessly and i would simply smile as how their lives are going on.. thank you for the poem!

Strange there is just one. Don't they usually swarm?
