a darker set of wings

There is a hole
in my house where
the wasp crawls in
again and again

I spend
countless hours
catching it up
in an empty glass
to let it fly free
in the garden
but it never
fails to
return

even so
I cannot bring
myself to crush
its

glossy

delicate

menace
.

I, on the other hand, have no such qualms about crushing a wasp.
{shudder}

Jonnia, I wrote and posted a poem, or rather the wasp did over at View From The Northern Wall

I very much like you not killing the wasp. I have been forced to eradicate yellow jackets twice now from my yard, once from the nest they built in the ivy under the bamboo, and once in the ivy under the pine in the front yard. I would have left them alone except for the people who would pass too near. Me included. I was stung three times during the second nest effort.
